Piece goods clearances have been particularly good during the past six weeks but the only business done has been repeats on a restricted scale. Metals, Window Glass, and Sundries are also moving steadily. Dealers are apparently content to live a hand to mouth existence and the result is that the decreased ordering has made this market healthier now than it has been for many years past. Only about 30/40% of the normal business is being done, but its sound nature compensates to some extent for the reduced

turnover.
